UMA ART HISTORY STUDENTS TO CURATE EXHIBITION AT METAVERSE

The future is now the present. Under this premise, 56 students from the Theory of Art course, from the History of Art degree (UMA), will curate an exhibition in the metaverse entitled I am, therefore I dwell. The paraphrase of the well-known Latin locution from which the thought is based The Cartesian approach is articulated to give new meaning to the presence of the human being in a world where doubts between truth and reality, knowledge and stimuli, condition every attitude. The urban space, the social networks or the media are some of the shared places where women's voices are heard. interactions between people reach high levels of communication.

They have reached this starting point after weeks of analysing the works of 10 artists of the degree programme The search for points in the fine arts, who have altruistically contributed their creations. The search for points in The common approach has led them to propose four itineraries from which all of them can be understood. them conceptually: the consciousness that dialogues with elements and sensations, the fears that the mind, the distortion caused by mass consumption of images, as well as the distortion caused by the difficulties in distinguishing between the human and the unreal.

An exhibition that has an added bonus: the metaverse, a unique environment that allows the construction of of individualised settings. An opportunity that is also part of the objective of solving professional difficulties through case studies in which exhibition curatorships mark a new phase of the concrete guidelines for arguing discourses. The arrangement of the artistic creations - varied in their genealogy and format - seek the generation of knowledge that invites the public to exercise The aim is to develop critical thinking and position themselves in the face of the complex challenges of today's society.

The project, developed in the Department of Art History with the support of the Telefónica-University of Barcelona Chair in Art History, was launched inUMA, has been coordinated by professors Antonio Labella Martínez and Javier González Torres, with the collaboration of Salvador Haro, Professor of Fine Arts. Technological development has been made possible thanks to Rock&Change, a company specialising in virtual reality and the creation of of immersive experiences.
