The third edition of LEDU Stem Telefónica Chairs is here!
The question of this call is posed in a context in which Europe aims to become a digital and green leader. In this sense, it is essential to enhance synergies between the digital, green and energy transition to achieve a competitive, resilient and sustainable economy, as Telefónica recalled on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Is digitisation an ally of the transition?Green?
The EU is going through a period of profound change. Digital, green and energy transition seem to be at the heart of Europe's transformation, enhancing the sustainability, resilience and competitiveness of our economies. For this to happen, do the synergies between them need to be harnessed? Can this be done? This raises further questions that the panellists will seek to answer: Do digital technologies have the capacity to increase Europe's energy efficiency and renewable production, thus driving the green transition? Is it possible to achieve it in parallel without them? Is it really a decisive factor or as fundamental as it seems?

The competition will be carried out telematically, except for the grand final in person at Telefónica, and any student aged between 18 and 27 who is studying a STEM degree at a Telefónica Chair university can participate. Registration for the competition is open until 15 February.. Teams must consist of two members from the same university. Teams composed of students from different universities are not allowed to participate.
The winning team of LEDU Stem will get a trophy as well as a place to participate in the final phase of the Spanish University Debate League, which pits the 16 best teams in Spain against each other. The prize for the winning team of the Spanish University Debate League is €6,000. The runner-up will get €3,000. The judges will also choose the best speaker of the competition.
