Registration open for NASA's Space Apps Challenge in Malaga

The world's largest STEAM hackathon, the NASA Space Apps Challenge, returns to Malaga from the 3 to 5 October in the Campus 42, promoted by the Telefónica Foundation (Telefónica-UMA Chair), Malaga City Council, the Andalusian Regional Government and the collaboration of the Malaga Provincial Council,

This challenge, organised in collaboration with NASA, brings together programmers, scientists, designers, technological storytellers, students and professionals of all levels who seek to provide original solutions to real problems in space and on our planet.

From 3rd to 5th October at Campus 42 Fundación Telefónica Málaga

For 48 hours, participants from around the world will collaborate in teams to solve one of 19 official challenges proposed this year by NASA, using open data provided by the space agency and its partners. The challenges range from smart satellite tracking of sharks to creating innovative technologies for recycling on Mars, customised weather tools and exploring exoplanets with artificial intelligence.

This year's theme is “Learn, Launch, Lead!” and diversity of profiles is key: anyone can participate, regardless of age or experience. The aim is to connect local (and global) talent with frontier science and the creative use of large open databases.

«Learn, Pitch, Lead!»

The Space Apps Challenge Malaga not only promises a unique educational and collaborative experience, but also an opportunity for international exposure. The winning team will be able to travel to Kennedy Space Center (USA) to present their ideas to NASA experts, thus consolidating Malaga as an incubator of STEAM talent in Spain.

In the previous edition, local teams stood out with internationally recognised innovative projects, such as meteorite simulators and satellite-based plant management systems.
