The Institute of Advanced Digestive Endoscopy from Hospital Quirónsalud Málaga y Telefónica today performed the first endoscopies in Spain in real time using 5G technology and virtual reality as part of the Virtual Reality Endoscopy 2021 congress by connecting the Hospital Quirónsalud Málaga with the auditorium of Telefónica's headquarters in DistritoT in Madrid.

In this way, a virtual operating theatre was created to follow the endoscopies from Madrid that were being performed live in the operating theatre in Malaga. Those attending the congress were able to see the entire operating theatre immersively, the video generated by the endoscopy source and all the parameters of the operation, such as the type of scalpel or the cutting power, as well as the constants of the patient (heart rate, respiratory rate, etc.). They also interacted in real time with the doctor who performed the operations in Malaga.
