More than 150 professionals from around 60 universities from all over Spain gathered this afternoon at the Rectorate, on the occasion of the official inauguration of the XX University Employment Services Conference (SUE 2022), an event organised by CRUE Spanish Universities, which will be held at the UMA until next Friday, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the institution.

The Vice-Rector for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Rafael Ventura, chaired the inaugural session, which was also attended by the Director General of the Department of Education, Youth and Employment Promotion of the City Council, Fernando Leguina; the Executive Secretary of the Student Affairs Sector of CRUE, Ángela Alcalá; the Territorial Delegate for Employment, Training, Self-Employment, Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities in Malaga of the Andalusian Regional Government, Carmen Sánchez; the Director of the Employability and Entrepreneurship Service of the UMA, Antonio Peñafiel, and the Training Coordinator of the FGUMA, Mar Soto.

The aim of this conference is to address the changes that have taken place in the field of university employment and how these should move forward in the future. Thus, the digital transformation will be the central theme of the conference, analysing the changes imposed by COVID-19. This conference is being held at a very special time, as it has not been possible to organise it for the last two years due to the pandemic. While we have been talking for some time about redesigning the university's management mechanisms, the pandemic has only accelerated this process, meaning that we have had to reinforce new technologies in our daily work, in many cases modifying the way we work. For this reason, under the slogan «Digital Transformation», The conference will address issues that have to do precisely with these changes that have taken place in the field of university employment and how our employment services should move forward in the future.

Since its creation two decades ago, SUE has become a meeting point for vice-rectors, directors and technical staff of university services with competences in employability and entrepreneurship to discuss issues related to work placements, career guidance, the employment observatory, labour intermediation and entrepreneurship, an area in which the UMA has achieved recognition as an Entrepreneurial University by the ACEEU, becoming the first Spanish higher education institution to receive this seal.

Among the topics to be discussed at this 20th SUE conference are the impact of new technologies on the management of services, the evaluation of the activity of these services and the recent approval of the Labour Reform, which presents changes that directly affect both the training of university students and their access to the labour market, among many others.
