From them [humans] to us [AIs]. A speculative curatorial project about museums, futures and AIs.

Telefónica-UMA Chair in collaboration with the Vice-Chancellor's Office for Culture in the framework of the project Complexhibit

From them (humans) to us (AIs) is an exhibition-installation that explores the current and possible relations between human beings and artificial intelligences. The project is a free interpretation of the fictional novel Membrane (2021), by Jorge Carrión, in which news is given of the inauguration of a museum designed and conceived by the AIs at the beginning of the 22nd century. The exhibition-installation reimagines this museum of the future and transforms it into a speculative essay. The objects that articulate the exhibition route, which extend from thousands of years before Christ to 2100, tell a story of cessions, forgetfulness and debts, while at the same time, in a parallel and intersecting narrative, offering glimpses of what a different, critical and creative relationship with artificial intelligences could be (could be). From them (humans) to us (AIs)) immerses the visitor in an immersive space, engendered by the membranous mesh that AIs have been weaving throughout their exponential growth in the 21st century, and challenges the visitor to cross the threshold of the membrane and glimpse what lies (what might lie) beyond.
