Telefónica-UMA Chair - University of Malaga

In the framework of the exhibition-installation From Them (humans) to Us (AIs), which explores the current and possible relationships between humans and artificial intelligences, we have organised in collaboration with the Vice-rectorate for Culture the conference «Experimental exhibitions and speculative curatorial practices». This conference, which will take place on 26 February, will bring together various experts who will discuss topics such as creative experimentation and immersive experiences.

We will also take advantage of this day to announce the next activities of the Tech_Liminaris project (Experimental Factory of artistic projects and curatorship through new generation technologies).

Biographies:

Jorge Carrión was born in Tarragona in 1976 but has spent most of his life in Mataró and Barcelona. He holds a PhD in Humanities from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and is co-director of the Master's Degree in Literary Creation at the UPF-BSM (together with José María Micó). He has lived in Buenos Aires, Rosario and Chicago. He publishes regularly in various media, including La Vanguardia e Infobae. For seven years he was the cultural critic for the Spanish editions of the New York Times (five years) and the Washington Post (two). He is the author of the novels  The Dead, The Orphans, The Tourists, The Departed, Membrane, All Museums are science fiction novels;  and of several non-fiction books, among them Australia. A Journey, Teleshakespeare, Bookshops, Barcelona. Book of passages, Against Amazon y Viral. He curated the exhibitions The Sebald Variations of the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona and All the libraries of tomorrow at the Koldo Mitxelena cultural centre in San Sebastian. He has published two comic books with Sagar: Barcelona. The junkyard wanderers y Gothic; and with Javier Olivares, Shakespeare & Cervantes y Warburg & Beach. He is the author and narrator of the podcast Solaris, sound essays, and Echoes. It has been translated into fifteen languages.

Agustín Linares has worked for 16 years as a professor of electronic art at the Faculty of Fine Arts, combining teaching with the production of interactive works and collaboration with other artists in the exploration of digital art. He has contributed to contemporary debate through various publications on art and transhumanism. Responsible for visual communication at the Vice-Rectorate for Culture, his work as a curator has led to more than 30 exhibitions, often promoting proposals that merge technology and creativity. In addition, I perform institutional functions as secretary of the Chair of Flamencology of Malaga, I am also part of the DIANA research group and of the University Institute for Research in Mechatronic Engineering, and I hold the position of Vice-President of the Historical Botanical Garden of Malaga as head of exhibitions. My career reflects a constant commitment to innovation and the integration of different contemporary artistic and scientific disciplines.

Vicente Luis Mora is a writer and literary critic, and works as a lecturer in the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature at the University of Malaga. His latest books are the novels Cubit (Gutenberg Galaxy, 2024), Circular 22 (Gutenberg Galaxy, 2022), Central Europe (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2020) and Fred Cabeza de Vaca (Sexto Piso, 2017); the books of poems Mechanics (Hiperión, 2021) and Series (Pre-Textos, 2015); the aphorisms of Theory (Mixture, 2022); the essays Building readership (Vaso Roto, 2024) and The flight of the imagination (Pre-Textos, 2019) and the monograph Writing in the open. Metamorphosis of literary experience and reading in digital culture. (University of León, 2021). He has been a visiting professor at Brown University (USA) and Stockholms Universitet (Sweden), coordinated the Master's Degree in Creative Writing at UNIR, and led a research project on literary creation from a cognitive approach at the University of Seville.

Cristina Urdiales García She studied telecommunications engineering and holds a PhD from the UMA in the area of robotics and from the UPC in Artificial Intelligence. She was a pioneer in the use of Augmented Reality applied to heritage, developing several public projects and with companies and participating in exhibitions and installations, as well as in dissemination activities. She is also fond of drawing and has contributed in this line to several interior illustrations and magazine covers at national level.
